Credit Card Numbers You Can Use for Testing

If you're a web developer, chances are you've had to put up an ecommerce setup somewhere, at some point. One of the key things you need to look at before unleashing this potential monster into the real world is whether the charging system actually works like it's supposed to. After all, just one decimal out of place a la Office Space, could potentially be a huge financial headache for your client (or yourself).

Thankfully, there is a series of legitimate, non-charging credit card numbers that developers can use just for this purpose. Paypal has even provided a comprehensive list. These are fully functional CC patterns which can be used to check your online shopping carts. However, they are official, "fake," credit cards and cannot be used to charge and buy anything. The card numbers are NOT tied to any financial accounts.
